Danish Meat Association was founded 1. April 2006. As of this date the three major meat organisations the Danish Bacon & Meat Council (Danske Slagterier), the Danish Livestock and Meat Board (Kødbranchens Fællesråd) and the Danish Poultry Council (Det Danske Fjerkræraad) joined technical and administrative expertise in a new body under the name Danish Meat Association (DMA).
The formation of DMA provides a strong meat and processing sector, politically and technically, as well as better total capacity.
DMA carries out a number of tasks for the three organisations within a number of areas, such as:
The three organisations continue as separate legally and financially independent organisations. Each retains its own Board, responsible for directing the activity level and financial framework for DMA.
