The Danish Livestock and Meat Board

The Danish Livestock and Meat Board is the trade organisation of the Danish beef and veal sector. It was established in 1972 when Denmark joined the EU in order to ensure Danish agriculture and the meat sector an effective and independent common body in the EU e.g.

Members of the Danish Livestock and Meat Board are cattle abattoirs and co-operative slaughterhouse societies, processing plants and commercial firms within the beef and veal sector, and the organisation Danish Agriculture.

The activities of the organisation are financed by membership fees, user fees, and by external funds.

The trade organisation accomplishes many independent tasks on behalf of the members. Besides the organisation performs a wide range of tasks such as data on slaughtering and sales, forecasts, research and development related to slaughtering and processing, labelling, marketing, food safety, traceability, and veterinary and hygiene documentation.
