500 meat experts from 47 countries
On August the 16th the World’s meat experts will assemble in Copenhagen. For one week in August the Danish Meat Research Institute and the Centre for Advanced Food Studies will host the World congress, ICoMST, where technicians, scientists and developers meet to discuss the newest meat research results. The final date for enrolment is July the 27th.

Prior to the international Climate Conference in Denmark, Denmark is also host for a big conference in meat. During one week 400 - 500 experts in meat from all over the world will assemble in Copenhagen to exchange knowledge and discuss topic within the theme “Meat – Muscle, Manufacturing and Meals”. It is 20 years ago, since the annual scientific event was in Denmark. This year Danish Meat Research Institute and the Centre for Advanced Food Studies arer hosts at ICoMST - International Congress of Meat Science and Technology.

Two months before the large arrangement, the programme is ready. 50 world leading speakers in meat are on the programme, which includes subjects such as muscle biology, robot technology, process control, food safety, nutrition and health plus meat and gastronomy.

The ‘hot topic’ of the congress is castration of piglets and male pigs. The subject is ‘hot’ – particularly in Europe – due to a requirement from June 1st in Denmark and some other European countries for all piglet producers to apply pain-relieving treatment in connection with castration.

The network of the World’s meat experts will walk on new paths, as an attempt is made to link all participants via one of the Internet’s tools, LinkedIN. At enrolment each participant will receive an invitation to participate in the group, Meat Innovation Group, MIG. The purpose is to offer a virtual meeting place, which can also exist when the congress has ended.
